Description | Buddha statue Donated by Masayo Motoda 3,000m from the hypocenter Ushita-machi (now, Ushita-higashi 1-chome) The donor's stepfather Yoshiho Motoda (then, 58) was a sculptor. He was struck by the bombing when he was carving this Buddha statue. The roof of the house was blown away, but Yoshiho, who was inside the house, was safe. He then escaped into a nearby bush. Later he saw the horrifying scenes on the streets and thought that his Buddha statue must have saved him. He kept and treasured it until he passed away. |
