| Description | Donated by Shusaku Kawamoto On August 7, Haruzo (then, 40) and Mitsu (then, 38), the father and mother of Itsuyoshi Kawamoto (then, 13), a student in Class 6 of the seventh grade, found their son near his building demolition work site. He had died in the air-raid posture he had been taught, crouched forward with his hands covering his eyes and ears. His legs were burned off below the knee and his whole body was so disfigured that they could recognize him only by the unburned parts of his name tag. Haruzo and Mitsu cremated their son and took his ashes home. |
