Description | Purse he carried when he was exposed Donated by Junko and Takako Inoue Approx. 500m from the hypocenter Zaimoku-cho (now, Nakajima-cho) Kosuke Inoue (then, 12), who was in his first year at Municipal Shipbuilding Industry School, was exposed while demolishing buildings. The next day, his father (Masao) searched the work site for Kosuke and recognized his body by the belt buckle and a surgical scar. Kosuke's body was a gruesome sight, the skin on his upper half burned bright red and peeling, the burnt eyeballs shrunken and loose in their sockets. When Masao cremated Kosuke the next day, he could not bear to look upon his son's body. |
