Minoru Htaguchi's father Jiro(then,31)was exposed to the atomic bomb at his workplace at the Hiroshima Railway Bureau. Four days later, Jiro's wife Chieno (then,27) went loolimg for him, walking the 20 Kilometers to Hiroshima with her older brother. This Pocket watch and buckle were found under a toppled safe near his work site. Jiro won this buckle in an All-Railway Communication Competition. As soon as she saw it, Chieno Knew that Jiro had died there. She gathered the bones and ashes she found nearby and took them with her. |
