Toshiko Fujimori (then, 13), the donor's sister, was a first-year student at First Municipal Girls High School. She was exposed to the bomb while helping building demolition work as a mobilized student. Despite a frantic search by her father, Kenkichi (then, 45), mother, Kasumi (then, 41), and older sister, Hidemi (then, 20), Toshiko was never found. The day after the atomic bombing, Kasumi and Hidemi heard from one of Toshiko's classmates they had found that Toshiko had been seen clutching some wood floating in the Motoyasugawa River shouting praise for the emperor. Later, Kasumi found her cloth bag beneath the rubble of a temple wall near Toshiko's work site. Kasumi cherished the bag as if it were her daughter's bones until the day she died.
