Description The donor (then, 13), a second-year student in an upper grade at an elementary school, was exposed to the bomb at the train shed of Hiroshima Electric Railway Co., to which the donor had been mobilized. He was buried under the collapsed building. He managed to arrive at his designated evacuation site after fleeing around the town barefoot. He had sustained burn injuries to his face, hands and legs; his clothing was burned to shreds. When the donor was reunited with his father, who was there waiting for him, his injuries were so severe that his father recognized him only by his voice. After saying, “Take care,” to the donor that morning, his mother has remained missing to this day. This cloth bag, used to carry emergency food and an air-raid hood, was made by the donor's mother. It is burned and torn on the side that faced the heat.
