Description | Kiyo Nishikado, the donor's mother (then, 39), got on the move building demolition work with her son Takeshi (then, 17 months) shouldered with this baby carrier. Kiyo was going to watch over the belongings of mobilized persons and experienced the A-bombing when she was laying Takeshi down on an air-raid hood, crouching by a stone wall. Then everything instantly fell into pitch darkness. The next thing she knew was that nobody was around her and Takeshi had sustained serious burn injuries on his head and legs. Holding Takeshi in her arms, Kiyo lost herself escaping from the city that had turned into a living hell on earth. Takeshi was suffering from serious injuries, with conditions such as fever and diarrhea. But despite his burn injuries continuing to fester, he managed to survive with Kiyo's attentive care. |
