Description Toshiaki Asahi (then,13), a first-year student at Second Hiroshima Prectural Junior High School, was exposed at his building demolition worksite. Grievously burned, he managed to pick his way through the flames, climb up the riverbank, and escape to the outskirts of town. There he was found by an acquaintance. After being carried home, Toshiaki, despite his injuries, was able to tell experience of the bombing. He worried about his classmates and about failing to follow the procedures for missing school. In the morning of the 9th, he said, "Thank you for all you've done,"and died in his mother's lap.
