Description Fujio Oka (then, 25), a medic with the Army Ship Fire Brigade, was exposed while receiving instructions in the schoolyard where his unit was stationed. He lost consciousness after being lifted by the blast. When he came to, he was injured and wedged between a part of the collapsed school building and a concrete block wall. Before long, the school building was crowded with injured victims, who were given first aid with food oil and Mercurochrome. Three days after the A-bombing, Fujio joined a relief unit and began treating the injured non-stop without sleeping or resting. The leather belt was worn by Fujio at the time of the A-bombing.
