| Description | Matsue Ooi (then 26) was a nurse on duty at Hiroshima Second Army Hospital when the bomb exploded. She found herself under the collapsed building with flames appearing all around her. Digging desperately, she managed to escape, but had sustained severe contusions. Though she was too sick to eat for nearly a week, she worked with other hospital staff and the director of the hospital, who had a bad wound in his back, caring for the injured. |
