Description | Trousers worn at the time of the bombing and a piece of paper stating name and condition 700 m from the hypocenter Moto-machi Donated by Junkichi Miyatani Having been drafted in Hiroshima, Masanori Miyatani (28) was exposed to the bombing in the city. He suffered severe burns on his head, face, and back. Learning of Masanori’s whereabouts, his father and wife, who lived in Onomichi, entered Hiroshima to search for him. The next day, they found him in Fukuya Department Store. He was lying on the dusty floor without adequate treatment. They took him home and did all they could for him. Masanori’s pain was so agonizing that he begged, “Kill me, please.” On August 13, after thanking all who were caring for him and asking them to look after his daughter, he took his last breath. This paper was placed on Masanori’s head in the relief station. (2019 Main Building) |
