Description | Blouse Donation / Sachiko Kimura Approx. 1,500m from the hypocenter Tsurumi-cho Yuriko Yamamoto (then 13) was a student at Hiroshima Girls Commercial School. She was exposed at her building demolition site near Tsurumi Bridge. Despite serious burns, she almost made it home, but became too exhausted to move. Just after noon, her mother was told where she was and ran to get her. By that time, Yuriko’s body was terribly swollen due to her burns. Her hair was singed. She couldn’t even be identified as male or female. Her mother tried to take care of her, but had no medicine. The best she could do was grate cucumber and potato and apply them to her burns. |
