Description | Yoshiro Mutsuoka (then, 13), a mobilized first-year student at Municipal Junior High School, was exposed while demolishing buildings. His mother, Shikayo (then, 40) and other family members were exposed at home in Fukushima-cho but escaped. When they returned from their refuge on the riverbed to retrieve their valuables, they found Yoshiro, his face bloated, his entire body burnt and peeling, with a serious injury to his back. They carried him back to the riverbed and lay him on a futon soaked by the black rain. Despite his family's attentions, Yoshiro died in the early morning of the 7th. |
