Description | Monpe workpants and jacket Donated by Kaneyoshi Otoi Approx. 1,000 m from the hypocenter, Zakoba-cho (now, Kokutaiji-machi, 1-chome) Yoshiko Otoi (then, 28) was exposed to the A-bomb at her building demolition worksite. Yoshiko made it home, then was taken to Ninoshima Island. She died two days later. When her family went to the island, her body had already been cremated with others and her ashes could not be identified. She was wearing these monpe at the time. Because the heat ray struck her from behind, her back was mostly burned away. |
