Description | Naofumi Hino, the donor's uncle (then, 13), a first-year student of Second Hiroshima Prefectural Junior High School, was exposed to the bomb while helping building demolition work as a mobilized student. Naofumi's father Naoto, who learned about the emergency in Hiroshima at their home on Kurahashi Island (now, Kure City), went to Hiroshima by boat before dawn on the 7th and desperately searched for Naofumi, but couldn't find even his remains. However, they found Naofumi's bag among other students'bags lined along the river bank near Naofumi's worksite. His lunch was still in the lunch box in the bag that his mother Masuko made by sewing a towel and fabric from her obi sash. |
