Description | Heijiro Nishimura and his wife Itsu had gathered with other members of their building demolition group in the First Hiroshima Prefectural Junior High School schoolyard when the bomb exploded. Their second daughter Yaeko (then,24) came into the city on the 7th in search of her parents. She found this charred lunch box, which contained, burdock, potatoes, and beans at the site. Their third daughter Tomoe (then,22) died at their home, 650 m from the hypocenter along with three other family members. |
