Description | Seigoro was Sui Iida's father-in-law. He managed a lumberyard in Takajo-machi. On August 6, Seigoro escaped harm because he had gone out of the city overnight to take household goods to the evacuation site. His wife, Sho, was killed by the bombing at home. In 1955, Sui married the couple's first son Taiji. Because Seigoro died two years later, Sui had learned very little of his A-bomb experience. In 1993, Sui and Taiji found this rice bin together with a lump of fused glass in their attic and preserved it as part of the family history. When Taiji died, Sui learned from the relatives who gathered that the rice bin and fused glass had been kept under the storehouse of the house where the family lived at the time of the bombing. No futher details were known. The rice inside the can is carbonized and black. |
