Description | In mid-September 1945, Kanji Yamasaki (then 17) and his older sister (then 32) dug up the burnt ruins of their home in search of ashes of their mother, aunt, and cousins, all killed by the bomb. They found none. This dish used from the time of Kanji's childhood was all they could find to keep as a remembrance of the dead. |
