| Description | Nobuaki Hamanaka (then, 24), was exposed roughly 700 meters from the hypocenter. He had just stepped into the shadow of a tree and escaped with burns on his arm. He returned home to Uchikoshi-cho, but in time developed bloody stools. Recovery was slow. Nobuaki found this ashtray in the burnt ruins of an army facility in Uchikoshi-cho in mid-September. |
