Description Hiroshi Nakamura (then, 13), a second-year student at Fuchu Junior High School, experienced the A-bombing in his dormitory. He was scheduled to leave the dormitory for his mobilization site on the day of the bombing. However, he was sick that day. Standing at the entrance of the dormitory, he jumped out of the building as soon as he heard the explosion and found himself in pitch darkness. As his surroundings became visible in the light of blazing fires, he saw that his dormitory was burning. He found this tool in the ruins of the burned-down dormitory during relief activities on the 8th. The tool had been leaning against a wall of the entrance. Originally with a wooden handle over 2 meters long, the handle was completely burned away.
* Tobiguchi is a Japanese fireman’s tool used to carry things or break through obstacles.
