Description | Shirley Temple* Doll (with badge) Donated by Chieko Suetomo 2,300m from the hypocenter Minami-machi 2-chome (now, Minami-machi) Chieko Suetomo, the donor, loved this Shirley Temple doll that her father got her when he was in the US. Returning to their destroyed house a few days after the bombing, she found the doll laying on what was left of the floor. The doll’s once beautiful light peach clothes were blackened from head to toe, but Chieko continued to treasure the doll after the war. *Shirley Temple was an American actress. Dolls like this of her as a child star in the 1930s were made and enjoyed a great deal of popularity. |
