Meiko Takahashi (then, 19), a student at Hiroshima Jogakuin Specialized School of Higher Education, was exposed at the factory that was her mobilization site. The next morning, she managed to return to the burnt ruins of her home, but did not find her father, Ken (then, 49). Meiko walked around the city searching for him for about a month, until she heard that Ken had been killed at work in Hiroshima Prefectural Hospital. The building had collapsed on him. Meiko long treasured this pot dug from the burnt ruins. |
