展示説明文(英語) Mikiyo Kimura, the donor's younger sister (then, 13), a first-year student of First Hiroshima Prefectural Girls High School, was exposed to the bomb in the Dohashi area while helping building demolition work as a mobilized student. Suffering from serious scorched black burn injuries all over her body, she squeezed out her last ounce of strength and reached Koi Elementary School. At the school, Mikiyo came across a friend of her elder sister and asked the friend to take a message to her family. Mikiyo finally returned home with her father Kazumi, who had come to pick her up. Since Mikiyo was most happy that she could simply return home, in detail she told about the situation at the time of the bombing, neither crying nor complaining of pains from her burns. Despite her family's attentive care, Mikiyo passed away on the morning of the 7th, the day after the A-bombing, after raising herself up and holding her palms to the east.

Pattern for a school uniform (in a case)
Using this pattern, students of First Hiroshima Prefectural Girls High School, including Mikiyo, sewed their own school uniforms by themselves. A girlish picture is on the handmade case.
