| 内容 | 古田孝三さん(当時42歳)は勤務先の広島駅の改札で点呼中に被爆。額に傷を負ったため、いったん妻のシゲノさんの実家があった中山村に向かい手当てを受け、府中町の自宅に帰宅した。その後、動員学徒として雑魚場町に行っていた娘の美知枝さん(当時13歳)が、夜になっても帰ってこないのを心配して、翌日シゲノさんと一緒に市内へ探しに行った。その時の様子などが書かれたもの。美知枝さんは広島女学院高等女学校の2年生で、8月10日比治山で亡くなった。 |

| 展示説明文 | 寄贈者の義父・孝三さん(当時42歳)は､勤務先の広島駅で被爆｡額に傷を負いました｡孝三さんの娘の美知枝さん(当時13歳)は夜になっても帰らず､孝三さんは翌日妻のシゲノさんとともに市内に捜索に行きました｡8月10日､比治山で亡くなっている美知枝さんを発見しました｡手記には､この世の地獄のような状況の中､必死に美知枝さんを捜して歩いた日のことが記されています｡ 手記の内容(一部要約):「名簿を持つ人の前に行き､古田美知枝と言う者は居ないかとたずねた｡すると､たしかに居られますよ､見て上げましょうと帳面を一枚一枚めくりはじめられた｡その時のうれしかった事｡妻と無言で顔を見合わせた｡むね一ぱいだ｡なみだがにじみでた｡それもつかのま､帳面をしらべ終わった人は､やはり来て居られません､との返事｡がっかりして失望｡谷底にけ落とされたような感じがした｡うれし涙が一しゅんにしてかなしみのなみだとなった｡すみませんでした､と頭を下げて力無く歩み出して､美知枝や､美知枝やとさがしまわった｡」 |
| 展示説明文（英語） | Koso, the donor's father-in-law (then, 42), was exposed to the bomb at his workplace, Hiroshima Station. He sustained injuries on his forehead. By that evening, his daughter Michie (then, 13) had still not returned home. The next day, Koso entered Hiroshima City with his wife, Shigeno, to search for Michie. On August 10, they found her, already dead, on Hijiyama Hill. The days they desperately searched for Michie are described in his memoirs as being like a living hell on earth. Memoirs (partly summarized): “I asked a person who had the list about the whereabouts of Michie Yoshida. The person started flipping pages one after another after responding, “She must be in the list. Let me check it.” My wife and I were truly happy to hear that, looking at each other in silence with our hearts too full for words. Tears welled up in our eyes. But it was only a passing joy. After checking the list, the person told us, “Sorry, she hasn’t come yet.” We were very disappointed. It felt like being kicked to the bottom of a deep valley. Tears of joy turned into tears of sadness in an instant. “Sorry to bother you,” we said, as we bowed to the person and helplessly went forward to search for Michie, calling her name.” |
