| 内容 | 児玉戒三さん(当時51歳)は、勤労動員先の雑魚場町で被爆。大やけどを負って、出汐町の陸軍被服支廠へ収容された。6日、長男の肇さん(当時17歳)と再会した戒三さんの顔は腫れあがり、「肇か」という声を聞くまで、肇さんはその人が父だと分からなかった。肇さんは向洋にいた家族へ戒三さんの消息を知らせ、連れて帰るための大八車を取りに向かい、7日に被服支廠へ戻ったときには、既に午後2時半頃戒三さんは亡くなっていた。 このノートは、戒三さんが被爆時に持っていたかばんに入っていたもので、当時の時勢で「いつ、何があるか分からない」と常に身近に持っていたものらしい。自らの生い立ちや、日々の出来事などを記した戒三さんにとっては覚書のようなものだったらしい。戒三さんが亡くなった後、一家の長として必死に生きてきた肇さんが、長く大切にしてきた。 |

| 展示説明文 | ノート 寄贈／児玉肇氏 爆心地から約1,000ｍ 雑魚場町(現在の国泰寺町一丁目) 児玉戒三さん(当時51歳)は､勤労動員先で被爆｡大やけどを負って､陸軍被服支廠へ収容されました｡戒三さんの顔は腫れあがり､6日､再会した長男の肇さん(当時17歳)は､「肇か」という声を聞くまで､その人が父だと分かりませんでした｡その夜､肇さんは家族の元へ父の消息を知らせ､連れて帰るための大八車を取りに向かいました｡翌日被服支廠へ戻ったときには､既に戒三さんは亡くなっていました｡多くの犠牲者がある中､父を一人で荼毘にふすことはかなわず､肇さんが受け取った遺骨は､はっきり父のものだとは分かりませんでした｡ 戒三さんが被爆時に持っていたこれらの遺品は､家族がずっと大切にしてきました｡戒三さんの妻・オキクさんは､戦後戒三さんについて多くを語ることはありませんでしたが､毎年8月6日には､原爆供養塔へのお参りを欠かしませんでした｡肇さんは､父亡き後､一家の長として懸命に生きました｡ |
| 展示説明文（英語） | Notebook Donated by Hajime Kodama Approx. 1,000m from the hypocenter Zakoba-machi (now, Kokutaiji-machi) Mr. Kaiso Kodama (then, 51) was exposed to the A-bombing when he was engaged in the labor service. Suffering severe burns, he was carried to the Army Clothing Depot. Kaiso’s face swelled so much that his oldest son Hajime (then, 17) could not recognize him until Kaiso asked “Are you Hajime?” when they met each other on the 6th. That night, Hajime returned to his family to let them know about his father’s condition and to get a handcart to carry Kaiso back home. On the following day, when Hajime returned to the Clothing Depot, Kaiso had already died. The number of the dead was so great that Kaiso’s body could not be cremated alone. Accordingly, Hajime was not sure whether what he had received was really the remains of his father. These items, which Kaiso had with him at the time of the atomic bombing, were preserved for a long time with considerable care by his family. Kaiso’s wife Okiku did not talk much about Kaiso after the end of the war. On August 6th every year, however, she never failed to visit the Atomic Bomb Memorial Mound. After the death of his father, Hajime worked very hard as the head of his family. |
