| 内容 | 佐々木禎子さんは、2歳の時に被爆した。運動の得意な元気な少女に成長したが、被爆から10年後に突然白血病であると診断され、８カ月の入院生活の末、家族が見守る中、亡くなった。その死をきっかけに、禎子さんの同級生だった幟町小学校6年竹組の子どもたちがはじめた「原爆の子の像」建立運動は、やがて市内の小・中・高校を巻き込んだ大きな運動に発展し、市内の各学校の生徒会で組織された「広島平和をきずく児童・生徒の会」が結成された。このビラは「広島平和をきずく児童・生徒の会」が、全国の学校に向けて像の建設募金を呼びかけたもの。1956年(昭和31年)3月5日付。国内外から集まった募金は580万円にのぼり、運動をはじめてから2年半後の1958年(昭和33年)5月5日、「原爆の子の像」は完成した。 |

| 展示説明文（英語） | Leaflet asking for donations for the Children’s Peace Monument Rules of the Hiroshima Children and Students Association for the Creation of Peace Donated by Tomiko Kawano Sadako Sasaki was two years old when she experienced the atomic bombing, but it wasn’t until 10 years that she was diagnosed with sudden onset leukemia. After 8 months in the hospital, she died with her family by her side. This event inspired Sadako’s classmates to call for the creation of a Children’s Peace Monument, which developed into a huge movement joined by many of the city’s junior high and high school students. The student councils of each school organized the Hiroshima Children and Students Association for the Creation of Peace. In their rules, they pledged they’d work together to create a peaceful world to live in. Besides working for the creation of a statue, they promoted peace through lectures and presentations. The association produced this leaflet, dated March 5, 1956, seeking donations for the creation of the monument, which was directed at schools throughout Japan. They received over 5,800,000 yen from domestic and international donors and on May 5, 1958, two-and-a-half years from the start of the movement, the Children’s Peace Monument was completed.
