| 内容 | 中澤勉さん(当時21歳)は、二部隊の建物の2階で被爆した。右側に窓ガラスがあったため、背中と右半身にガラスが突き刺さり、意識を失った。気がついた時は、建物の一階に埋もれており、助けに来た人に掘り起こしてもらった時には、火がそこまで迫っていた。その後勉さんは、母が疎開していた牛田に帰ろうと思ったが、ケガのため歩くことができず、這って縮景園まで避難し、そこで一夜を明かした。うとうとして目が覚めると、周りは全て焼けており、勉さんのいたところだけが焼け残っていた。それから3日ぐらいかかって、ようやく牛田に帰った。牛田に帰った勉さんを、母のリョウさんが大八車に乗せて、病院に連れて行った。ガラスが突き刺さった背中と右半身は血だらけで、顔や頸動脈にも大きなきずを負い、右目は血のりで開かなかった。勉さんの体にわいたうじはリョウさんが取り、看病をした。戦後、1958年～1960年(昭和33年～35年)になって、ガラスが入っていたところがひどく痛みはじめた勉さんは、病院で手術を受けた。しかし何度か手術を繰り返したが、全てを取り除くことはできず、晩年になっても痛みがあると「ガラスのせいではないか」と勉さんは不安を抱えていたという。 |

| 展示説明文（英語） | Shards of Glass Removed from the Inside of a Body Anonymous donation Approx.860m from the hypocenter Moto-machi Mr. Tsutomu Nakazawa (then, 21) was exposed to the A-bombing when he was on the second floor of the building of the 1st infantry unit of the Chugoku Military District. He lost consciousness, and his back and the right side of his body were pierced with shards of glass. When he regained consciousness, he found himself caught under the building. He was rescued from there immediately before a fire reached him. Although he tried to head for Ushita-machi where his mother had been evacuated, he could not walk due to his injuries. He crawled to Shukkei-en and spent the night there. Afterward, he managed to reach Ushita, and then his mother Ryo carried him in a handcart to a hospital. His back and the right side of his body were covered with blood, studded with shards of glass. He also had major injuries to his face and carotid artery, and clotted blood prevented him from opening his right eye. After the war, from 1958 to 1960, Tsutomu began to feel terrible pain in his body parts where shards of glass remained, and underwent surgery at the hospital. Despite a number of operations, not all of the shards of glass could be removed. Whenever he felt pain in his later years, he was always concerned that the pain might have been caused by the shards of glass. |
