| 内容 | 爆心地から1,370メートルにあった広島逓信病院では、空襲に対する措置として、7月以降入院患者を退院させており、職員のみが勤務していた。被爆により爆風でガラスは吹き飛び、内部も破壊され、医療機器類のほとんどが失われたが、大勢の負傷者が殺到し、職員らは必死の努力で救護にあたった。 |

| 展示説明文 | 広島逓信病院の窓枠 寄贈／日本郵政株式会社 広島逓信病院 爆心地から1,370ｍ 基町（現在の東白島） 広島逓信病院は、大きな窓を国内で初めて取り入れた病院でした。しかし、その大きな窓のガラスは爆風で吹き飛び、窓枠は変形、内部も焼失し、医療機器類のほとんどが失われましたが、空襲に備えて7月以降入院患者を退院させており、当日は勤務していた職員が被爆しました。爆心地から2km以内で残った病院は、広島赤十字病院とこの病院のみとなったため、殺到する大勢の負傷者に、職員らは昼夜問わずの必死の救護を続けました。病院の内外では、収容者のうめき声、水を求める声、近親者の名を呼ぶ声、寒さを訴える声、激しくおうとする音などがあふれ、せいさんこの上ありませんでした。 |
| 展示説明文（英語） | Hiroshima Teishin Hospital window frame Donated by Hiroshima Teishin Hospital, Japan Post Holdings, Co., Ltd. 1,370m from the hypocenter Moto-machi (now, Higashi-hakushima) Hiroshima Teishin was the first hospital in Japan to install big windows. However, they were shattered by bombs, their frames disfigured and interiors burnt. Even though most medical equipment was lost, all of the patients had been released in July anyway in preparation for air raids, but all employees working on that day were exposed to the A-bomb. This hospital and the Hiroshima Red Cross Hospital became the only remaining hospitals operating within 2km of the hypocenter and the staff worked continuously day and night to treat the hordes of patients that arrived. In and around the hospital, the air was filled with the sound of inpatients groaning, begging for water, crying out for relatives, complaining of the cold, and retching violently. Nothing was worse. |
