The donor's younger brother Meiji, a second-year student at Second Hiroshima Prefectural Junior High School (then, 13), was exposed on his way to his student mobilization worksite. Meiji's parents never found him. Around May 1946, when a resident near the Atago railroad crossing, about 2,300 meters from the hypocenter, was cleaning up the rubble in the area, he found a skeleton under a fallen storehouse with some identifying effects. Meiji's parents and brother rushed to the scene and identified Meiji by the clothing, buttons, etc. |
