| 内容 | 池田重義さん(当時53歳)は、広島県産業奨励館内の関西石油に勤務中被爆した。妻のコキクさん(当時47歳)は、自宅で被爆し、胸や腕に火傷を負った。翌朝重義さんが帰ってこないため、コキクさんと四男文彌さん(当時11歳)、重義さんの弟とで産業奨励館へ向った。そこで椅子に座ったままの白骨化した遺体を発見、わずかに焼け残っていたズボンの切端により、重義さんと確認した。そしてその骨とそばにあったこの腕時計を持ち帰った｡ |

| 展示説明文 | 池田重義さん(当時53歳)は、広島県産業奨励館にあった関西石油に勤務していました。妻のコキクさん(当時47歳)は、重義さんが帰ってこないため、四男文彌さん(当時11歳)、重義さんの弟と産業奨励館に重義さんを捜しに行きました。椅子に座ったままの白骨化した遺体があり、わずかに焼け残っていたズボンの切れ端により、重義さんと確認しました。この腕時計はその時遺骨と一緒に持ち帰ったものです。 「母も自分もケガしていたため、日赤病院で治療を待っていました。茫然として何も考える余裕はなかったです。叔父と出会い、『とにかくおとうさんを捜しに行こう。』と言われて、3人で産業奨励館に行きました。たくさん亡くなっておられました。男女の判別もつかないのです。母が『これがおとうさんよ。』といって遺骨と時計を包んだのを覚えています。」四男・池田文彌さん |
| 展示説明文（英語） | Shigeyoshi Ikeda(then,53) worked at the Kansai Oil Company in the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall. When Shigeyoshi failed to come home, his wife, Kokiku (then,47),set out with their fourth son Fumiya (then,11) and Shigeyoshi's younger brother to look for him. They found a skeleton still sitting in a chair and were able to determine that it was Shigeyoshi by a fragment of his pants. They brought this watch home with his remains. "Mother and I were both injured and waiting for treatment at the Red Cross Hospital. Stunned and unable to think clearly, we encountered my uncle, who said, 'Let's try to find your father. 'So the three of us went to the Industrial Promotion Hall, where we found many dead people. We could not even tell their gender. Mother said, 'This is your father.'
