| 内容 | 大正屋呉服店の屋号が入った帆布。大正屋呉服店は、1929(昭和4)年3月に細工町から中島本町に新築移転し、1943(昭和18)年12月繊維統制令により閉鎖された。現在は、平和記念公園レストハウスとして整備されている。 |

| 展示説明文 | 大正屋呉服店の屋号が入った布 寄贈／渡邉 益之氏 大正屋呉服店があった中島本町は、映画館やカフェ、旅館などが軒を連ねる市内有数の繁華街でした。とりわけ、元安橋近くの呉服店は、モダンな建物で買い物客の目を引いていました。戦争の悪化に伴い1943年（昭和18年）に呉服店が閉鎖された後は、燃料会館として使用されていました。爆心地から170mにあった建物は、原爆によりコンクリートの屋根は大破し、内部も全焼、地下室にいて奇跡的に生き残った1人をのぞいて全員が犠牲となりました。現在は、平和記念公園のレストハウスとして活用されています。 |
| 展示説明文（英語） | Cloth bearing the name of Taishoya Kimono Shop Donated by Masuyuki Watanabe Nakajima-hon-machi, where the Taishoya Kimono Shop stood, was a prominent downtown district with movie theaters and numerous cafes and inns. In particular, the kimono shop near Motoyasu Bridge appealed to shoppers with its modern appearance. The kimono shop closed in 1943 as a result of the worsening war and was later used as a Fuel Hall. The building, standing 170m from the hypocenter, had its concrete roof demolished by the atomic bomb and interior completely gutted by fire. All employees were killed except, miraculously, one who was in the basement. Today, it is being used as the Rest House in Peace Memorial Park. |
