| 展示説明文（英語） | Donated by DOI Yoshiko HASIKAWA Harukichi (aged 36) had gone to Tate-machi for work. His wife Ume and others went to look for Harukichi, who did not return home after the atomic bombing. They dug up these articles in a burned-out area. His remains were never found. Excerpt from a talk of the donor (Harukichi’s daughter) “I was three years old at that time. Even after I had grown up, my mother never talked about her painful or sad experiences, but she never missed her monthly visit to my father’s grave. After the war without my father, both my mother and I lived faithfully, at least not losing our pride, supported by a will that my father left us in preparation for our lives without him.” Harukichi’s will (excerpt) “Do your best to make absolutely sure you can raise Yoshiko.” “Being ladylike, doing what a mother should do, and doing what a wife of a man who has died in battle should do, work as a Japanese woman who is never spoken ill of behind your back.” |
