| 内容 | 久保忍さん(当時19歳)は、大野村の自宅から勤務先の広島鉄道局へ向う途中、大須賀町で被爆した。熱線を遮るものがなく、閃光を浴び、気づいた時には倒れてきた家の大きな梁の下敷きになっていた。あたりはシーンと静まりかえり、助けを呼んでも誰も来る者はなかった。忍さんはどうにか自力で脱出し、着ていた服に着火した火をもみ消しながら東照宮へと逃れた。体の前面には大やけどを負っており、腕のひふは垂れ下がり、それをむしりながらのことだった。着ていた上着ももんぺもボロボロに焼け、それらを脱ぎ捨てシュミーズだけになった。駅に焼夷弾が落ちたのだと思った忍さんが、持っていた防空頭巾を被り素足のまま山中を逃れていると、火傷を負って逃れてきた人が背負ってくれた。どうにか牛田まで逃れたが家に帰りようがなく、太田川沿いで夜を明かした。7日昼過ぎ、地御前から救援に来たという警防団と会い、ようやく大野町の家族に連絡をつけることができた。翌8日の明け方、知らせを受けて舟で迎えに来た父親の源一さんらとようやく再会することができた。大野の自宅に戻った忍さんは、源一さんや母親のシツヨさんの懸命な看護を受けたが、苦しい療養生活だった。 |

| 展示説明文 | 堀本忍さんは､女子挺身隊員として大野村(現 廿日市市)の自宅から鉄道局へ出勤する途中､大須賀町で被爆｡倒壊した建物の下敷きになりましたが､自力で脱出し､服に点いた火をもみ消して逃げました｡ボロボロになった上着ともんぺを脱ぎ捨て､シュミーズだけになり､やけどで垂れ下がった腕の皮膚をむしりながら牛田の山中を歩きました｡夜になって川へ下り､体が曲がらないので口まで水につかって泥水を飲みました｡通りがかりの人たちに助けられ､8日の昼頃には迎えに来た父親と自宅へ帰ることができましたが､その後も長く苦しい療養生活を送りました｡忍さんが当日着ていたこのワンピースは母親の手製で､脱がせる時に切った跡があります｡ 本人のコメントより あの日､東照宮の山道を歩いていると､首にやけどを負って広島駅から逃げてきたおじさんが背負ってくれました｡夜､シュミーズ1枚で蚊や虫にたかられていると､近所の人が外套を着せてくれました｡やけどの手当ての時布をはがす痛みと､3年後に右目を摘出した時の痛みは忘れられません｡大変な目にあいましたが､人の情けが身にしみてありがたく思いました｡ |
| 展示説明文（英語） | Shinobu Horimoto was exposed at Osuga-cho, on her way from her home in Ono-mura (now, Hatsukaichi City) to the Hiroshima Railway Bureau, where she was assigned as a member of the Girls Volunteer Corps. She was trapped under a fallen building but extricated herself and fled, slapping out the flames in her clothing. She shed her ragged shirt and monpe trousers and walked to the mountains of Ushita, wearing only a chemise and picking the burned skin off her arms. In the evening, she walked down to the river. Because her body would not bend, she walked into the river up to her mouth to drink the muddy water. People walking by on the road took her in and helped her. Around noon on the 8th, her father came to take her home. She underwent painful therapy for years.This chemise worn by Shinobu that day was handmade by her mother. The cuts were made to remove the chemise. (from the donor's comments) That day, I climbed the mountain path behind Toshogu Shrine. Then, a man burned on his neck who had fled from Hiroshima Station carried me on his back. Clad in only a chemise, that night I was attacked by mosquitoes and other bugs. Someone gave me a coat to wear. I can never forget the pain of peeling cloth during the burn treatments or the removal of my right eye three years later. I met with terrible misfortune but am so grateful for the human kindness I experienced. |
