| 内容 | 軍医候補生の本田勇さん(当時35歳)は、広島陸軍病院に勤務中被爆した。兵舎の下敷となったが、脱出して庄原市の山内国民学校に仮設された広島陸軍病院の山内分病棟に収容された。8月13日に勇さんからのはがきを受け取った妻の松子さんが翌日かけつけたが、勇さんは顔・首・手などに大火傷を負っており、口もきけないほどの重体だった。松子さんの懸命な看病を受けたが、4人の子供を残して8月29日に死亡した。 |

| 展示説明文 | 意識は最後まで確かでした／軍医のシャツ／爆心地から500ｍ 広島第一陸軍病院 本田松子寄贈 軍医の見習いだった本田勇さん（当時35歳）は広島の陸軍病院勤務中に被爆しました。兵舎の下敷きとなりましたが、何とか脱出し、広島県北東部の庄原の国民学校に収容されました。8月13日に勇さんから葉書を受け取った妻が翌日に病床にかけつけると、大火傷をおった勇さんは口もきけないほどの重体で、看病もむなしく4人の子どもを残して8月29日に亡くなりました。 （妻・松子さんの手紙より） 顔、首、手等皮膚の露出していた部分は全く黒焦げの状態でした。当人の顔も全く見分けがつかない状態でした。意識は最後まで確かでしたが次第に発熱と下痢を伴い衰弱いたし、ついに八月二十九日に永眠いたしました折はやけどのかさぶたも取れ殆ど平常の皮膚となって居りました。 |
| 展示説明文（英語） | He remained conscious to the end／An army doctor’s shirt／500 m from the hypocenter Hiroshima First Army Hospital Donated by Matsuko Honda Isamu Honda (then 35), a trainee army doctor, was exposed to the atomic bombing while on duty at Hiroshima First Army Hospital. Trapped under the collapsed barrack, he managed to free himself and was taken to an elementary school in Shobara in northeastern Hiroshima. Receiving a postcard from Isamu on August 13, his wife rushed to his sick bed on the following day. Suffering severe burns, his condition was so bad that he could hardly speak. Despite desperate care of his wife, Isamu died on August 29, leaving her with four children behind. Excerpt from a letter written by Matsuko, Isamu’s wife: His face, neck, hands, and other parts exposed were completely charred. His face was far beyond recognition. Although he remained conscious to the end, he gradually weakened due to fever and diarrhea. When he eventually passed away on August 29, the scabs developed on his burnt skin had peeled off, and the skin condition almost recovered to the normal state. |
