| 内容 | 山根秀雄さん(当時12歳)が原爆投下当日持って出かけたもの。 県立広島工業学校電気科1年生だった秀雄さんは、8月6日、自宅のある高田郡白木町から朝一番の列車で建物疎開作業に出て行ったきり、行方不明になった。 母親の初恵さんは、翌7日から毎日広島に行き、市内全ての収容所をまわるなどして必死に捜したが、秀雄さんを見つけることはできないまま、8月15日に葬儀を行った。 この弁当箱は、初恵さんが葬儀の後、再び秀雄さんがいた建物疎開作業現場の焼け跡を訪れた時に拾ったもの。弁当箱に名前は書かれていないが、残っていた中身の配置を見て「これはあの子のものに違いない」と思い持ち帰った。 寄贈者・芳枝さんの言葉 「お茶目で活発、花を育てるのが好きな兄でした。勉強を頑張って県工に合格した時はすごく喜んでいました。「長男を殺しちゃならん」と言って必死に兄のことを捜した母は、その後亡くなるまで「秀雄が、秀雄が」とよく思い出して話していました。」 |

| 展示説明文 | 山根秀雄さん(当時12歳)の遺品 寄贈／山根芳枝 山根秀雄さんは､学徒動員先の建物疎開作業現場(爆心地から700m 中島新町)で被爆｡母･初恵さん(当時37歳)は､翌日から毎日市内に通い､市内中の収容所を回りましたが､ついに秀雄さんを見つけることは出来ませんでした｡遺体のないまま葬式をおこなった数日後､行方不明の家族を捜していた近所の人が偶然秀雄さんの学生服を発見し､届けてくれました｡ 弁当箱は､建物疎開作業現場の焼け跡で初恵さんが見つけたものです｡名前はありませんでしたが､残っていた弁当の中身の配置で秀雄さんのものと確信し、持ち帰りました｡ ＜妹･山根芳枝さんの手記より一部抜粋＞ 八時十五分にピカドンと音がして 広島へ爆弾が落ちたそうな おおごとなんと｡ 十二時の汽車から焼けただれた人が皆んなおおく帰って来られた。 母は次の汽車が着くたびに出て 秀雄兄様が帰らないかとむかえに出ました。 何度待っても帰らない｡ 八月七日から母は毎日広島へ行ましたがなかなか切府も買えないので 大歳の妹様に世話してもらって行っていました。 (母は)どうしても切府をもらえないなら､ただのりでもして行くと何だか気が変になった様に一生懸命でした。 ＜母･初恵さんの日記より一部抜粋＞ 秀雄ちゃん！！お母ちゃんがむかえに来ました許してください あの日今日は休めと云ったら死なすのでは無かったものを 無理に行かせて死なせた母を許してください 焼香の番が回ってこみ上げて泣き伏した 早く母さんも貴方の処に呼んで下さい。一日も早く貴方に面会したいのです。 心の底から願った。 有りし日の面影を素直で明朗だった笑顔を ぽっかり浮んで笑っています。 なぜ物を言ってくれないの (中略) すぐすぐ母もあなたのところに参ります。そうして心行くまでお詫びをします。 では秀雄ちゃん早く私を呼んで下さいね。お願いですよ。 |
| 展示説明文（英語） | Items left by Hideo Yamane (then 12) Donated by Yoshie Yamane Hideo Yamane was a mobilized student working at a building demolition work site (700m from the hypocenter, Nakajima-shin-machi) when he was exposed to the atomic bomb. Starting the next day, his mother, Hatsue (then 37), searched at camps throughout the city every day, but was never able to find Hideo. A few days after they held a funeral without his body, a neighbor who had also been searching for missing family members happened to find Hideo's school uniform and delivered it to his mother. Hatsue found his lunch box among the burnt remains of the building demolition work site. Although Hideo's name was not on the lunch box, she was convinced that it was his because of the arrangement of the remaining contents, so she took it home. Excerpt from notes written by Yoshie Yamane, Hideo’s younger sister: At 8:15 am, with a flash and boom, the atomic bomb is said to have fallen on Hiroshima, bringing serious damage. Starting with the 12 o'clock train, so many people who had been badly burned returned. Each time a train arrived, our mother would go out to see if my brother Hideo came back. But, no matter how many times she went out, he never returned. Starting on August 7th, our mother went to Hiroshima every day. As tickets couldn't be purchased easily, one of our relatives helped her get there. Mother said that if there was no way for her to get a ticket, she was still going to go even if it meant sneaking on the train without paying. She was desperate and seemed a bit frantic. Excerpt from diary of Hatsue, Hideo’s mother: Hideo!! Mother has come to get you, please forgive me. If I had told you to stay home that day, you wouldn't have died. But I made you go and now you are dead. Please forgive me. When offering of incense in my turn at the funeral, I couldn’t help myself breaking down in tears. Please call me to be with you soon. I want to see you as soon as possible. I pray from the bottom of my heart. I can see your smiling face on that day, your honest and cheerful face. Why won't you talk to me? (omitted) Mother will come to you soon. And I will beg your forgiveness to my heart's content. So, Hideo, please call me to you soon. Please. |
