| 内容 | 県立広島第一中学校1年生の堀弘明さん（当時13歳）は、爆心地から約1200mの雑魚場町の建物疎開作業現場で被爆した。全身に火傷を負い、似島へと運ばれた。必死で弘明さんを捜していた父親の輝人さんは、ようやく7日に似島に運ばれたことをつきとめ、パンツ一枚の火ぶくれになったわが子を発見した。変わり果てた姿で、パンツのネームでやっとわが子と確認するほどだった。「あついあつい、体がやける」とうわごとを言っていたが、10日夜に父親と祖母に見守られながら死亡した。これは学徒動員時に弘明さんが使用していたもの。被爆時は家に置いていた。 |

| 展示説明文（英語） | Hiroaki Hori (then, 13) was a first-year student at First Hiroshima Prefectural Junior High School when he was exposed at his building demolition worksite. He was burned over much of his body and taken to Ninoshima Island. His father, Teruto, searched desperately and found Hiroaki on the 7th covered with blisters and wearing only his underwear. In an unconscious delirium, he said, "Hot. So hot. My body is burning," and on the night of the 10th he died with his family at his side. Hiroaki had used this shovel at his worksite, though he left it at home on the day of the bombing. |
