| 内容 | 寄贈者の夫・堀田章さんが防府の特攻隊予科練へ行く時にもらった寄せ書き。終戦の知らせを聞き、すぐに広島に戻った章さんは入市被爆した。広島にいた章さんの両親も被爆したものの幸い無事であったが、吉島にあった自宅は全焼した。 その後10年近く、親子3人、冬には雪が顔にあたるようなバラックでの生活が続いた。 |

| 展示説明文 | 寄贈者／堀田 きぬ子氏 寄贈者の夫・堀田章さんが特攻隊予科練へ行く時に贈られた寄せ書きです。終戦後、すぐに広島に戻った章さん（当時16歳）は入市被爆しました。章さんの両親も被爆し、吉島にあった自宅は丸焼けとなりました。その後10年近く、親子3人での自給自足のバラック生活が続きました。 |
| 展示説明文（英語） | Donated by Kinuko Hotta Akira Hotta, the donor's husband, received this when he left for kamikaze squadron training. Upon returning to Hiroshima at the end of the war, Akira (then, 16) was exposed to radiation from the A-bomb. Both of his parents had experienced the atomic bombing and their house in Yoshijima was burned to the ground. For most of the ten years following, Akira and his parents lived together in barrack-like conditions and fended for themselves. |
