| 内容 | 1946(昭和20)年5月頃 モンゴメリー氏は米軍中尉として従軍し、呉に駐屯していた1946(昭和21)年5月、木原市長の要請に応じ、広島市復興顧問に就任。以降、復興審議会や事務レベルの会議に出席。都市計画の専門家の立場から復興計画の立案･推進に協力した。これは、同年5月18日付けでモンゴメリー氏からGHQ最高司令官宛てに送られた書簡に対する、軍務局長補佐代理からの返信。「その目的のために出版された資料のみが利用可能となる」 |

| 展示説明文（英語） | John Montgomery was a lieutenant in the US Army stationed in Kure. In May 1946, at a request from the mayor of Hiroshima, he was assigned to work as an advisor assisting the reconstruction of Hiroshima City. Subsequently, he used his urban planning expertise to help craft and implement the reconstruction plan. Seen here is a letter of inquiry from Lieutenant Montgomery to the GHQ Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers and the answer from James Nash, acting assistant adjutant general. |
