| 内容 | 崇德中学校2年生の横地繁實さん(当時15歳)は、爆心地から800メートルの学徒動員先の八丁堀の建物疎開作業現場で点呼中に被爆した。一瞬で服に火が着き、全身に大火傷を負いながらも川に飛び込んで川土手に避難、動けぬ体で家族の迎えを待ち続けた。8日に知らせを受けた母トシコさん(当時38歳)が家に連れて帰り、必死で看病した。火傷に効くと聞き、6日に被爆死した父孫一さん(当時43歳)の遺灰を繁實さんの体に塗った。しかし、8日の夕方、繁實さんは息を引き取った。横地家では繁實さんの姉千鶴子さん(当時19歳)も被爆、7日に亡くなっている。 |

| 展示説明文（英語） | Shigemi Yokoji (then, 15), a second-year student at Sotoku Junior High School, was severely burned by the atomic bomb while helping to demolish buildings in Hatchobori, about 800 meters from the hypocenter. On the morning of the 8th, he was reunited with his mother, Toshiko (then, 38). Having heard that ashes from cremation were a helpful burn treatment, Toshiko applied to Shigemi's burns the ashes of her husband, Magoichi (then, 43), who had been killed on the 6th. Despite Toshiko's devoted nursing, Shigemi died that evening. This textbook belonged to Shigemi. |
