| Situation | Hiroyuki Nagasawa was 15 years old at the time of the atomic bombing. He was exposed to the atomic bombing in the dormitory of Hiroshima Prefectural Normal School located in Minami-machi about two kilometers from the hypocenter. He was taking a nap on the morning of Aug. 6, because an air-raid warning was issued the night before and he had been on guard duty. His friends died under a building that collapsed by the powerful blast. He still remembers how miserable survivors were at a first-aid station where he took shelter. Mr. Nagasawa earnestly wishes that the atomic bombings, a mistake humanity made, shall never be repeated. |
