Description | Injured and burnt people lying on the tracks, their names written on roof tiles next to their heads Eba Line August 9, 1945 Haruko Ogasawara (13 at the time of the bombing, 42 when she drew this picture) Explanation in picture Three days after the bombing, my parents and I returned to the burnt ruins to see what had become of our house. Kanzaki Elementary School, where I had gone, was only partially burnt and was serving as a relief station for the wounded. People were lined up on the Eba tracks like ties. Next to them were roof tiles on which their names were written. They were barely breathing under the blazing sun. |
