Description | The atomic blaze devoured in flames our loved ones and the ones we fondly remember 1,980m from the hypocenter Hijiyama Park August 6, 1945, night Drawn by Asako Fujise (age 22 at the time of the bombing) [Excerpt of artist comment] The atomic blaze annihilated indiscriminately, reducing human life to insignificance. It devoured in flames our loved ones and the ones we fondly remember, chasing them as they fled, burned and blood-covered, in the devastating furnace. Throughout the city, fires spread, unchecked by rivers, and the aftermath looked like nothing but hell. Dazed, I kept watching, worrying about relatives. |
