Description | Disaster Certificate Donated by Goro Okado Ryoichi Daimon (63), a member of a civil defense unit in those days, was exposed to the bombing at Takeya Elementary School. He soon returned home in Fujimi-cho. While removing debris from his collapsed home, he shouted to his family trapped under the home. He heard his grandchildren screaming “Grandpa! Help me!” but flames were spreading toward him. There was nothing that he could do any longer. He picked up the skeletal remains of his wife, daughter and two granddaughters in the burned-out ruins in tears. Afterwards, Ryoichi also fell ill, and died in 1946 with his cause of death unknown. |
