Description | Lump of Melted Glass and Roof Tiles Donated by Takao Kobayashi 1,050 m from the hypocenter; Kita-eno-machi (now, Nishi-tokaichi-machi) Kensaku Matsushima (53) and his wife Koyoshi Kobayashi (47) were exposed and burned at home, but managed to get their burnt and tattered bodies to a relative’s home. Kensaku died on the 21st and Koyoshi on the 23rd. Their daughter Sadako (13) was exposed while helping with building demolition. Her remains were never found. When their oldest son, Takao (then, 27), was demobilized and returned home in 1946, he was astounded to find a burnt plain as far as he could see. He searched for his family until a relative told him they had all died. |
