| Description | Donated by Shiyako Nabeshima Approx. 1,100 m from the hypocenter, Kako-machi Shigeo Nabeshima (then, 37) joined the Hiroshima District Defense Corps and began working at a building demolition site in Kako-machi on August 1. On the 6th, he was exposed to the A-bomb at his worksite and went missing. Defense Corps members searching for Shigeo accidentally encountered a woman who gave Shigeo a last drink of water on Ninoshima. Because he had previously belonged to a unit stationed on Ninoshima, members of that unit carefully preserved his remains and belongings. |
