Description | Setsuko Sueoka (then, 26), a nurse called up from Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, was exposed at the Eba Branch of Hiroshima First Army Hospital. Countless glass fragments pierced her body and her head was injured. Ignoring her own injuries, she nursed the huge influx of survivors day and night. Despite her assiduous care, the patients died one after another. Setsuko and the other nurses helped to carry out the corpses. She wore this arm badge when she went out for corpse transport and other tasks. |
