Osamu Igawa(14),a first-year student at Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial School,was exposed working on building demolition as a mobilized student.Father Sadao(then,47)and mother Sadako(then,45)came from their home in the suburbs to search for him.At the work site,they found countless corpsed floating in the river or fallen on the embankment.The burnt,peeling,and swollen bodies were indistinguishable one from another.They continued their desperate search for him day after day,but never found his remains,only his gaiters. |
