Description These personal mementos belonged to the donor's aunt, Emiko Sawamoto (then, 16). Emiko was exposed to the bomb at Dohashi. Although suffering from serious burn injuries all over her body, she returned to her home several kilometers from the hypocenter on the night of August 6. Her clothes were burned off, leaving only the white parts. She was burned so badly even her parents failed to recognize her. Despite attentive care from her father, Asaichi (then, 59), and mother, Ayame (then, 51), Emiko passed away the next day (the 7th), begging for water. These mementos, worn by Emiko at the time of the A-bombing, were carefully preserved by her family even after her parents died.
