Yoko Moriwaki (13, A first-year student of First Hiroshima Prefectural Girls High School)
Yoko was exposed to the bombing when she was at her building demolition worksite around Dohashi. She suffered heavy burns on her back. On the night of the 6th, she died at Kan-on Elementary School, where she had been taken.

Yoko’s father was a music teacher.
Her dream was to pursue a career in music like her father.

Testimony by Her Elder Brother Koji
Accompanied by our mother, who was wailing, Yoko’s body was taken home in a cart.
Since her workpants were burned and tattered, she had almost nothing to wear, but someone put a yukata on her body.
Her face was not damaged, which was the only consolation given to us.

Yoko’s elder brother found this lunch box and these chopsticks at her worksite.
The chopsticks were made in Miyajima. Yoko made the chopsticks case, using paper with colored patterns.

Her summer uniform and air-raid hood, and the first-aid kit, were delivered later by a school staff.
Yoko wanted to wear a sailor-style uniform, but she couldn’t due to the material shortage.
This summer uniform was remade from her mother’s kimono. She had learned at school how to make the uniform.
