Description | Mother-in-law's work blouse and death certificate Donated by Tsuruko Kagawa The work blouse and death certificate of Masako Kagawa (then, 50), the donor's mother-in-law. On the morning of August 6, Masako was on her way to buy peaches in Inokuchi. She was riding in a street car bound for Koi when she experienced the atomic bombing in the vicinity of Tokaichi. Trampled by people who tried to get out, she managed to wrestle her way outside and boarded a boat that was near Aioi Bridge. Returning to her house in Hirose-machi, she was reunited with her husband, Kinzo (then, 56), who had experienced the bombing inside their home. Later, they evacuated to the home of their daughter-in-law, Tsuruko's, parents in Yagi. Although Masako was fine at first, she died on August 17. |
